Raylux and VTScada, compared

Where VTScada is the stronger choice

Track record. VTScada has a long track record, particularly in water and wastewater. Raylux is a new product with a short history.

A free licence. VTScadaLIGHT is free within 50 I/O tags. Raylux has no free licence, only the restartable trial.

Trial length. A 90-day trial on request gives you a longer unbroken evaluation than Raylux's two-hour sessions.

Where Raylux fits

Tag count does not change the Raylux price. The gateway licence, $995, includes unlimited tags and devices, all eight protocols, and OPC UA as both client and server, with no per-driver charge.

What you do pay for is operator screens and modules. Concurrent operator clients are metered, and Spectrum HMI, Historian, Reporting and Alarm notification are priced separately. Raylux has no water-specific history to point to.

Raylux runs on Windows or Linux, and edge licences for a single machine or panel start at $495.

Looking for a VTScada alternative?

The simplest test is to try Raylux on your own devices. The free download is fully unlocked for two hours at a time, with every driver, every module and unlimited tags and clients, and you can restart it as often as you like. Then price your plant on the pricing page.
