License activation
Activate a gateway that has no internet.
Your gateway wrote a request file carrying your license key. Upload it here from any computer with internet, and the license file for that gateway comes back to you by email.
Upload the request file
This is step 2 of Offline activation on the gateway’s License page in ConfigHub. The file ends in .raylux-request. An offline unactivation file (.raylux-unactivation) is uploaded here too, and frees the key for another gateway.
The three steps
The same three steps are on the gateway’s License page, under Activate license or Update license.
| Step | Where |
|---|---|
| 1. Enter your license key and download the request file | On the gateway, in ConfigHub |
| 2. Upload the request file | Here, from any computer with internet |
| 3. Upload the license file you receive | On the gateway, in ConfigHub — it takes effect straight away, with no restart |
Worth knowing
What the file contains
Your license key, a fingerprint of the gateway’s hardware (a hash, not serial numbers), its host name and operating system, and the Raylux version. Nothing from your plant. What we keep, and for how long, is in the privacy policy.
Gateways older than 2026.21
A gateway running Raylux 2026.20 or older cannot be activated, online or with a request file. Update it to 2026.21 or later first, then download the request again. A license key you buy now works on it once it is updated. Downloads of the older releases are withdrawn; their third-party source code stays on the source page.
Adding modules later
Use Update license on the same gateway with the same key. The request says it is an update, and the new license file carries everything the key now includes.
